Porte d’entrée à la salle dite « du Gouverneur »
Les deux pièces qui s’appuient à la courtine Est du château et qui sont situées entre les tours du Nord et des Bohémiens ont souvent été appelées au XIXème siècle « Salles du Gouverneur ». Cette appellation était tout à fait erronée puisque aucune fonction de ce type n’a été exercée à Poilvache. La forteresse était dirigée par un châtelain et un prévôt.
Les pièces en question étaient certainement destinées à l’habitat compte tenu de l’existence d’une cheminée dont les montants étaient encore discernables sur une carte postale ancienne du début du XXème siècle. Depuis lors hélas, ils ont disparu, victimes sans doute du vandalisme qui a également fait disparaître les carreaux de dallage dont les pièces étaient pourvues, et dont l’existence est connue par un rapport de F. Danny qui fouilla une partie du site entre 1872 et 1879.

Overige woonruimtes – Oostvleugel van het kasteel
De twee kamers die tegen de oostelijke vliesgevel van het kasteel aanliggen en die zich tussen de noordelijke en de Boheemse toren bevinden, werden in de 19e eeuw vaak « gouverneurskamers » genoemd. Deze naam was volkomen onjuist aangezien in Poilvache geen functie van dit type werd uitgeoefend. Het fort werd bestuurd door een kastelein en een provoost.
De kamers in kwestie waren zeker bestemd voor residentieel gebruik gezien het bestaan van een open haard waarvan de staanders nog te onderscheiden waren op een oude ansichtkaart uit het begin van de 20e eeuw. Sindsdien zijn ze helaas verdwenen, ongetwijfeld het slachtoffer van vandalisme waarbij ook de straatstenen waarmee de kamers waren voorzien zijn verwijderd, en waarvan het bestaan bekend is uit een rapport van F. Danny die tussen 1872 en 1879 een deel van het terrein heeft opgegraven.

Other living spaces – East wing of the castle
The two rooms which abut the eastern curtain wall of the castle and which are located between the northern and Bohemian towers were often called in the 19th century « Governor’s Rooms ». This name was completely incorrect since no function of this type was exercised in Poilvache. The fortress was run by a castellan and a provost.
The rooms in question were certainly intended for residential use given the existence of a fireplace whose uprights could still be discerned on an old postcard from the beginning of the 20th century. Since then, unfortunately, they have disappeared, undoubtedly victims of vandalism which also removed the paving tiles with which the rooms were fitted, and whose existence is known from a report by F. Danny who excavated part of the site between 1872 and 1879.
