
It appears that in its original configuration, the supposed dungeon was not provided with utility facilities such as a cistern or a kitchen. The study of the masonry shows that these installations were planned subsequently and that they were part of an annex building. This and the dungeon will then be connected by a passage.
A search of the kitchen revealed clear traces of a fire. These must probably be linked to the final attack on the fortress in 1430, by the army of the Prince-Bishop of Liège Jean de Heinsberg.
Due to its coolness, the consolidated cistern now serves as a shelter for salamanders.
